Time management is a small solution to big problems!

At Ying Yang learning we have learned that sometimes the problem is not with memory retention, intellectual ability or cognitive function. Sometimes the biggest problem can simply be a lack of time management!

Good time management refers to your ability to organize and plan your time productively, efficiently and effectively without procrastinating or limiting your time for important and large tasks.

Whether you are 7, 16, 24, or 36, time management is always a struggle…

Improving your time management can also:

  • Increase productivity!
  • Reduce your stress levels!
  • Improve your workflow!
  • Decrease your level of procrastination!
  • Increase your ability to meet deadlines!
  • Allow you to enjoy a well balanced life!

All of this can be done regardless of your level of motivation if you CONSISTENTLY practice good time management.

Consistency > Motivation

Here is a list of your top 8 recommendations for improving time management skills:

    1. Always have a plan of what you want to cover and the amount of time you have. (Make use of SMART Goals – Are your goals specific? Measurable? Achievable? Realistic? Timely?)
    2. Work smarter, not harder. Work according to your dominant learning style and make sure you take breaks, revise constantly and study to understand your work, not to just memorise it.
    3. Make effective and efficient notes. As you’re making your notes, write them for you to understand your content. Do not just copy and paste.
    4. Make sure you prioritise your most important tasks first and organise them from most recently due to latest due.
    5. Limit distractions. This is the biggest cause of procrastination.
    6. Focus on one task at a time. Multi-tasking is not always efficient.
    7. Plan ahead – weeks and months. Looking at the bigger picture can create a sense of perspective and make tasks seem less daunting.
    8. Self-reflection and awareness is very important. You need to review your day and the way you are spending your time in order to know what is working and what is not working for you.
